The 16th ranked softball team won 2 home series’ this weekend as they knocked off Villanova 4-1 and 12-7 on Friday. Today they knocked off Providence 8-0 and 10-3 as they took their fifth straight game. Good job ladies. The Cards face off against Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday, April 7th at 5:00 PM.
The Baseball team took two of three from the Cincinnati Bearcats this weekend. They started off Friday, winning 13-3. They beat the Bearcats again 12-7 on Saturday. Their only loss of the series came earlier today as Cincinnati beat the Cardinals 10-9 but the big story of the game was Louisville Sophomore utility man Phil Wunderlich who belted three home runs in todays loss. Next up for the Cardinal Nine is Indiana on Tuesday, April 7th at 6:00 PM. Tuesday is also a “dollar beer” game so come on out and enjoy a few brews.
The Women’s Lacrosse team picked up their first ever Big East win against Rutgers on Friday, knocking them off 10-8. Congrats to them! Earlier today though, they couldn’t overcome the luck of the Irish as Notre Dame won 20-8. The ladies take on Georgetown in their last home game of the year on April 11th at 1:00 PM so try to make it out and support your ladies Lacrosse team. It’s Free.
In Track and Field news, Junior Steven Hnat set a UofL record in Shot Put of 58-8.50 as the Cardinals competed in the Texas Relays this weekend.
On Friday the men’s Tennis team lost to Virginia Commonwealth 4-3 but turned around and downed South Florida 4-1 on Saturday. Next up for the men is Notre Dame on April 11th at 1 PM. The women’s tennis team lost both competitions this weekend as they lost 5-2 to Virginia Commonwealth on Friday and 4-3 to William and Mary on Saturday. Hang in there girls!
